Our patient list has grown very rapidly over the last 3 years and, in order to keep it to a safe and manageable level, the GP Partners have taken the difficult decision to restrict the number of new patients who may join our Practice.

From 1st September 2019, we can only accept a limited number of new patient registrations each month.

However, we will continue to register babies born to existing patients, temporary residents who are living within our Practice boundary and immediate family members who come to live permanently at the address of existing patients.

We will continue to monitor our patient numbers.

You can register as a patient with Murrayfield Medical Centre if you live within our practice boundary and qualify for NHS treatment. If you need confirmation of whether you live within our boundary please ring us on 0131 337 2166

The Practice boundary is:-

Queensferry Road to the north; Drumbrae, Meadowplace and Broomhouse Roads to the west; Calder Road, Longstone Street, Inglis Green Road and Slateford Road near Ardmillan, left along Murieston Road, continuing alongside the railway line to Haymarket, bypassing Dalry.

To register as a patient with us we need you to complete two forms for each person registering. The first is a “NHS Scotland Application to Register with a GP Surgery” the second a “New Patient Health Check” questionnaire. Once completed, please bring both forms, in person, to the surgery along with your medical card if you have it. When you come to register we will need to see photographic proof of identity and proof of your address so please bring a bank statement, utility bill (land line phone bill, electricity or gas bill) or Council Tax notification - an official recent document that shows your name and current address.  The documents you bring must be originals and no more than three months old.  If in doubt about acceptable documents 0131 337 2166.

On submission of your application form you will be entitled to see a doctor or nurse if you need to. Your registration application will be passed for formal acceptance by a GP, and on confirmation of registration your new medical card will be sent to your home address.

We will be pleased to receive your application form and supporting documents from 0800-1730, Monday to Friday.

Please note that, while we continue to operate a restricted patient list, the number of registrations are strictly limited each month and are allocated on a first come, first served basis..

When registered with us please keep your name, address and contact details up to date.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Practice.

Guidance documents on what forms of identification we will need from you in order to process your application to register as a NHS patient are listed here:-

Temporary Residents

It may be possible for you to see a doctor if you are temporarily resident within the Practice boundary. If you do not qualify for NHS treatment we may still be able to treat you, however a fee may apply. In either case please call at Reception or ring 0131 337 2166 and our staff will advise you.
